Keep Me Waiting

I was on fire with the sewing machine a couple of nights ago.

I made a pair of Lolita wristcuffs, two jewellery pouches, two skirts, which can be seen here and made progess with a Gosu Rori Dress. I'm currently selling them though to fund for my trip to Germany.

Wristcuffs - £5
Pouches - £2.50 each

Heart Apron

I made this a couple of months ago, but I never showed anyone. I want to make some to sell, but I don't think I have enough time :(

Socks

I bought some very cute ankle socks too, perfect for my skirts and the summer!

Trade Myself In

There are quite a few products to 'enhance' your features on the market.
I'm a fan of circle lenses and fake tan, although I'm tempted to try Dr Scholl's Slimming socks

I find the thought of boob tape, body tape and fake piercings uncomfortable. Taping your boobs in general sounds uncomfortable...
There are circle lenses, fake eyelashes, double eyelid tape, teeth whitener, fake nails. The list goes on, what do you think about this? Do we rely too much on these products to make us feel better?

Anyway I thought I would share my first experience on fake eyelashes!
I tried out the fake eyelashes from this post.

They were subtle, yet effective.

I found them uncomfortable, but I think I didn't cut them out right.
I found my left eye really difficult to do. The lashes didn't seem to sit right on my eyelash line either. Do I need more mascara or curl my lashes better?

What's your opinion on fake eyelashes, fake tan, fake tattoos?
too unnatural?

DIY Simple Skirt With Pockets

The skirt is very simple to make; I made two in under 3 hours. However, if you have never sewn pockets before it'll really slow the process down. I found it hard to explain the pockets, so I might make a video for it.

First cut two pieces of fabric.
They should measure

hip measurement multiplied by 0.75
desired length + twice the width of elastic + hem (around 2cm)

Then you need to cut out four pieces for the pockets

You can decide the depth of the pockets and width, but MAKE SURE YOU CAN FIT YOUR HANDS IN YOUR POCKETS! I made mine roughly 19cm by 15inches

Finished all the rough seams, I zig zag stitched mine to prevent fraying.

Pin two of the pieces together right side together
repeat with the other two pieces

leave around 2cm and sew like so
reverse stitch at the beginning and end

Iron do so you create a flap.

HARD BIT!

Place the pockets were you want them
(tip : look at your other skirts to see where you prefer your pockets)

Pin the pockets so the flap is facing the fabric but not pinned down.
Flip the pocket over and pin it to the other pieces of the fabric.
The skirt pieces should be right sides faccing.

Sew the pockets in place and remebering to reverse stitch.

Be careful not to stitch the pockets together!

It should look like so

Pin the edges of the skirts together and then sew the sides, making sure you don't stitch close the pocket.

Iron flat the seams.

Fold over the top, so you have enough to create a channel for your elastic.

Iron flat and then sew a channel leaving a 4 cm gap in the stitches.

Attach your elastic to a safety pin or bodkin and thread it through the channel.
Don't lose the end of the fabric!

Sew the ends of the elastic together.
(tip; melt the ends of the elastic to prevent fraying)
Sew the gap closed

Fold the ends of the skirt and then iron flat and then sew to creat a hem.

Sew applique if you want.

(finished)

And tada!

(pockets)

I love making pockets, and since the skirt is poofy, they are quiet concealed.

(very happy with the skirt)

To make the skirt more poofy, just times your hip measurement by a bigger number, however you will have more 'bulk' at the waistband.

You can get some really cool shapes from rectangular cut out fabric, but I haven't really tried it out my self. I hope the tutorial was okay to follow!
Let me know how yours turned out!

What would you love to be able to sew?

Bitches, Hearts, Notes

Ebay is now my favourite online site!

I finally got some fake eyelashes and I found bitch tights! I've been looking for profanity tights since I saw them in CUTie (April 2007)! They cost me less than £4 all together and they arrived within a few days, I need to buy things from Ebay more often!

CUTie (April 2007)

Even though it's 5 years old I still flick through it for inspiration :), I was really happy to be able to find something similiar from the magazine.

piano purse, eylure Lashfix, glitter nail polish, Miss Sporty foundation

Over to other news, I bought some very cheap foundation and nail polish, the eyelash glue was £2.55, but it was recommended to me by a friend who wears fake eyelashes daily. I really can't wait to use the fake eyelashes, and learn and practice how to use make up properly!

I realised I never shared you my piano purse, it matches my piano bag :3

Heart Fabric

I bought this fabric whilst in Germany, it's really cute and thick, I wanna make a couple of skirts with it :3 I've got a couple of sewing projects going on atm. I can't wait to share them with you ^_^

Shopping with Mr Nice Guy

Bonus Pic: Mr Nice Guy and I found some very cute mutasche rings, when we were out!

I was hoping to be able to blog atleast 3 times a week, but that's proving a challenge, I hate having a bare archive and not being able to visit everyone's blog :(
My German exchange partner comes over in 2days aswell, mega nervous!

What's currently on your accessories/make up list?

Neue Lila Haare

Thanks Mr Nice Guy for dying and bleaching my hair :)

Credits

He bleached it twice and then we dyed over it with Schwarzkopf Live Mystic Violet.

(slightly effected by the fumes of the bleach)

He wanted to let my hair rest for a couple of days but I was too impatient so we did it all in the same day. I don't think I could last a whole week being this blonde!

The underlayer of my fringe and bits of the side are a light pink/purple, but you can only see it in the sunlight or when I wear a side fringe.

Pros
doesn't fade out easily
one box for whole head of hair
cheap
plenty of colours to choose from
works on thick hair
easy to get off skin
easy to get ahold of

Cons
very itchy
30minutes to wait after application
not very easy to apply (but what home hair dye is)

The colour is really rich and the dye didn't dry out my hair. It was itchy on my scalp, but Schwarzkopf is the only dye I've used, and it's really effective on my Asian hair. The price was cheap considering it's permenant and I only needed to use one box. I've been purple before, so it wasn't a dramatic change, but I really like how it makes me look paler and I think the colour brings out my eye colour more, or that could just be me :p

I wasn't sponsored for the review, but I wanted to show off my new hair colour ^_^ Thanks again Mr Nice Guy.

A tutorial for sewing you own halter neck!

Sorry for my sad face!

Just click to enlarge, I'm sorry if it's unclear!

Please email or comment if you need things explaining better.

I was meant to post this tutorial years ago :')

Me wearing it years ago.

The halter neck is pretty much backless, so I would pair it up with a swimsuit or tshirt.

Fake Tattoos [sponsored review]

Fake Tattoo kindly sponsored me for this review! I was really flattered and excited so here it is.
Fake Tattoos are the biggest in Europe regarding temporary tattoos.

They even sent me an anchor :3 I love sailor related itmes.
I followed the instructions, which were simple and easy. It took me a minute to apply it on
the Anchor Tattoo, and it looks realistic! I'll be stocking up on this little beauties.

Personally I love temporary tattoos, but I've found other temporary tattoos are very shiny and crack easily but not Fake Tattoos' products! I love how this one didn't have a sheen to it and stayed on quite well. They are really light and comfortable and are totally safe on my sensitive skin! They are meant to last 3 - 10days, but mine lasted 2 days becuase I scratch alot :(

Why temporary tattoos over real ones?
No pain
A fraction of the cost
no need to walk around wrapped in cling film
no risk of infection
quick and easy
no age restriction
and it's temporary!

Fake vs Real

Mr Nice Guy has a couple of tattoos (the ones on his knuckles are in UV ink though) so I used his tattoo for a comparison on how a real one looks against a temporary one.
Several of my friends actually thought I had got a tattoo!
Their reaction was priceless:')

They have a wide range of tattoos; you can even design your own, so check them out!
They deliver worldwide aswell.

I've thought of getting real tattoos, but I don't want to live to regret it.
How about you?
